Professor Gates sent a bouquet of tulips and a note to the woman who called the police on him earlier this month.
I feel sorry for what she had to deal with. She was labeled as a racist for simply being a good samaritan. She didn't mention race when she called 911.
I'm sure you've all heard by now about this stupid story about a man (who happens to be black, and a Harvard professor) getting arrested at his own house.
The woman did the right thing by calling the cops. She saw people breaking into a house and dialed 911. I'd want somebody to do that if that was happening to my house. She had no idea who Gates was.
The cops came, and I'm sure there was some arguments over having to show IDs at his own house. The professor ended up getting arrested. All the charges were later dropped. And this was a HUGE story on all the networks. They overhyped it. Especially, CNN, because they had the "Black in America 2" scheduled to air the next day.
This week, President Obama used beer diplomacy and fixed everything. All is well.
I hope Gates apologized to that lady in that note he sent her.
